Need some help please....

Alright well first off I have an 04 F-150 Styleside XLT 4.6 4x4 AT 3.55 factory 6cd/mp3. Well I was on my way back to the store when my stereo just shut off completely. I have had that happen to me before in other cars so I just shut it off and turned it back on hoping it was fine. But the stereo didnt turn on!!! I have lights to the stereo but no visual screen or sound coming out.. When I got back home I took the stereo out to make sure all connections were fine.. and they were..I even checked the fuse for the stereo, which was fine as well.....

So to make sure that it wasnt the stereo I went inside to grab the factory single cd player that came with the truck.. Put that in and still no visual screen or sound..

The 6cd/mp3 deck let me eject all of the cds that I had inside so there was power... and after I took the last cd out I hit eject disk one more time and " no disk" showed on the screen... but quickly went away...

At this point I have came to the conclusion that the cd players are fine because neither of them work.. so it has to be something with the truck or wiring..

I am going to take it down to the Ford Dealership tomorrow morning but I was just wondering about your thoughts on it..

Thanks guys

Matt

Possibly a loose ground. Shure you checked the right fuse? change it anyways.

Also check for something getting mashed in the back power wise that could be grounding out. Are your door speakers stock or aftermarket? One more thing, there are two power wires......A constant hot and an ignition on wire. If one of those isn't getting power to the unit, or is less than +12V then your radio will not work. Get a test light or a voltmeter and test for the hot wires. The test light will burn brightly, andt he voltmeter will obviously read around +12V.

If you can't pinpoint them, post it here and tell me which radio the truck came with, if it has a 6 disc external cd player, etc etc (all the radio options) and I'll get you a diagram.

Few other things, makes a difference if yoy have a Screw, or if you have a subwoofer. This is the basic version, without rear seat entertainment package

If the CDs will load/eject, it sounds to me like you lost the switched power source to the deck. Not sure offhand where it's fed from, but that's where I'd start.
