NEW 04 F150 owner... Couple questions..

As stated, I just baught an 04 F150 FX4... At the moment, I feel like a complete retard... I CANT FIND MY FUSE BOX!!!

I am about to wire up some extra interior lights (neons)... What would be the best way to do so? Was thinking of mounting a switch in the cigarette lighter "oval", maybe one on each side (2nd one for lights that will be on a light bar in the future) IF possible.. As of now, I cant figure out how to get behind it, but then again, I cant even find that damm fuse box! Any suggestions? Now, should I run straight to the battery, or is there a better place I could connect into?

Basically, im not very knowledgeable when it comes to electrical work, nor am I very familiar with the new f150 YET... So ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Just so you have the info for future ref :

The owners manual lists the fuse box location.
If you did not get one with the truck :
https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

How to take off the center console part of the dash, pull the directions for a Pro-Fit VSM ( vehicle Specific mount ) and it will show you how to pull that center area. Spring clips galore, if you have a plastic interior trim removal tool, it makes it much easier. Eastwood Company has the best 4 piece set I have seen yet. Slightly costly, but worth it.

Thanks for the info.... I did get the Owners Manual with my truck... It just says that its located on the right hand side of the instrument panel... I pull off the two lower panels and didnt see anything... Will most all of those panels just clip off? If thats the case, I guess I`ll quit being SO gentle, and yank some off if I have to! haha.... Thanks again!

Well, I got anxious and headed to the garage... In 10 minutes I had found the fuse box, and pulled off the part around the radio which gave me accsess to multiple places to put an aux switch.... Now that I got that figured out, Think I should tap into the fuse box or straight to the battery or what? Thanks!!!

Now I don't feel so bad, it took me and two other mechanics where I work to read the owners manual and figure out where the fuse panel is....DER....NOT easy to access at all. Boss' wife has an '05 Mustang and we had to change a fuse that is even worse. Why would Ford mount in such a cramped space?????
