Is it the same buzz that you hear if the keys are in the ignition & the lights are not on?

On my 89 the key in the ignition and headlight on buzzers are different. I am in and out of my truck alot so i found out that under the steering wheel there is a wire that has a contact on the key tumbler and if you put a piece of tape over the wire you can have your door open with the key on and no buzzer.

I also think that there is a fuse you can pull for the headlight buzzer but it also might turn something else off so i didnt do that. Pluse its nice to have if you jump out and leave your lights on.

Matt, I did this on my '02 F150, look underneath your steering column, there should be 2 or 3 screws that hold the plastic trim pieces in place. Remove the screws so you can remove the lower poirtion of the plastic steering column trim. Once removed, you should see one lone wire running toward the ignition, it's not bundled with any other wires. That lone wire is the one you want, cut that little bastage & then reassemble. That's all you need to do, pretty simple. It should take you ~5 min.
