Guages max out on startup

Hello Everyone.

I have a 1999 F-150 and recently it has started doing something funny. When I start-up the truck the guages max themselves out. The speedo goes to 110, the tach maxes out the all the other guages do to. Is this the trucks way of saying that something is wrong? Thank you in advance for your help and Have a safe a Happy Holidays.

The gages peg when the battery volyage drops. Check your battery cables and connections at the battery to make sure the cables are good and the connections are not loose or corroded.

I was wondering if it was something like that. Like I said, it's a 99 and, as far as I know, it's the original battery. Thank you for your help.
