sometimes starts....sometimes not....

My electrical problems are back...

I can go forty five minutes betwean boast's or up to four day's, I never know if and when my truck will start, Out side temp is not a facter, If I plug in the block heater or not, it makes no differance.

Last year truck was reflashed, Alt checked, Ford techs said the battery was good, on occasion, I still had to get it boasted, but not to this extent.

All acss are left off, I never start the truck with heater/ect on....Batt is registering 14 volts, even when the truck will not start.

starter will not engauge and the gauge needels shake back and forth, once bosted with a batt pack, truck starts right up and runs ok.

I thinging thiers a glitch some where in the acss program that allows you to have ten min's of power with out the key in the ignition, or the batt save program can't decide to turn back on the power.

in a week I will have time to let Ford tell me thiers nothing wrong, any thoughts?

I have checked batt and start cables, thier tight...

Same Problem with 1998 F-150

Sounds very similar. It will crank for about 5 seconds and if it does not start, will click. Usually if I wait about 1 minute, it will then start. A mechanic tells me the battery is not holding a full charge, this does not make sense as after waiting a minute, it will start. We cleaned all of the primary connections and I still do not trust it. Keep us posted.

you are either grounding out on the frame or the battery cable going to the starter is loose. The best way to take care of the loose cable is to go to a hardware store and get a locking nut. should take care of your problem.
