Cruise lights
Clock spring assembly.
There are two seperate contact sets for the lamps. One before and one after the lamps. This is the only way they get power too and thru the lamps back to ground.
The cruise clock springs are seperate.

At the very least, I'd pull the steering wheel and check for continuity through the switches to make sure they aren't burnt open.

I'm not sure as I never had a lighting problem like this but some items like this have the lite built in and have to replace the unit, to get lighting back.
Ya it's not a problem in daylite but at nite you have to be a blind reader to find them without taking you eyes off the road.
None of my cars or trucks have these buttons lighted.

I know this is off the subject a bit, but is there a cruise indicator light on the dash when the cruise is activated? I have a 99 Expy and when in cruise there is no indicator light on the dash, is there supposed to be? I had an 02 F150 FX4 and I think that one did. The guage clusters seem to be the same. Thanks for any info.
