Battery Light - Check this first (pics)
If your battery light is on and the truck runs ok after replcaing the alternator, check the fuse box to the right of the brake master cylinder
Look for a white burn mark on the inside cover near the left/middle
Replace the yellow 20 amp fuse located in in slot 11(numbered slot key is on back side of fuse box cover
