Headlamp Switch Came Off

My headlamp **** on my 2001 Supercrew came off in my hand. The plastic inside just desintigrated. When I went to the dealer to get the part, the guy at the counter gave me 2 options. Buy the F-150 part for $24.95 (Very overpriced. Supply & Demand I wonder?). Or . . . purchase the Taurus headlamp **** for $4.20. It's matte black instead of semi-glossy finish. I went with the Taurus ****, it worked great after a small modification. There's a little stop tab, newly engineered in, to prevent over torquing of the little "+" shaped shaft. Snip this off and it fits and functions identical to the original with a slightly different feel.

I had that happen with my 03 F150. Did not even turn the lights on. I was leaving work driving along and the **** just fell off. It was still under warranty so it was fixed at no cost. They did replace the whole assembly though and not just the ****.
