Disconnecting automatic locking feature
Disconnecting automatic locking feature
HELP!! I know zero about cars, but I have a 2001 F150 XLT and every time I put it in gear the doors automatically lock. I totally understand this is a safety feature, but is there anyway to disengage this option? I did not receive an owners manual and I wanted to ask the question.
I do not have the keyless entry feature.
Thanks!!

Thanks!!
He said he didn't have the manual. Mine is out in my truck but I found this link which explains how.
Disable Autolocks
Good luck

Pinched in the door locks - ouch!
I've thought of disconnecting mine as well. I've had three different passengers scream bloody murder when that lock went down and pinched their forearm skin. It happened to me once. Hurt like hell. I had broken blood vessels and a bruise for a week. Anybody else experience this?
It could be worse.
I discovered I had key off auto locking (went on five minutes after key off) in a new Sidekick. At 10 at night in a poor part of town. Sitting blocking someone in.
Taxi ride home 28.00 each way. Towing had a two hour estimate, and the guy who’s Buick was blocked didn’t want to wait. Fun.
I actually like autolock on start with my F-150, but I have it set to not unlock when key is off. Better security.

Follow the instructions in the link. Takes 2 minutes.
It's the first feature I disable on every vehicle I drive. I can't STAND it!! My salesman told me that he's never met someone that didn't like it. (except for me)
I just hate it when you get home, go to unload something from the passenger side, and have to walk all the way back around to the driver's side to unlock them again.... drives me nuts!

I really, really want to say something here.
But I won't.
