2002 F150 Driving/Fog Light Switch

The rotary switch **** which rotates for off/parking/driving lights and pulls out in for the fog lights has broken off twice in the past 2 years on my 2002. The first time they replaced it under warranty and it looks like you can't simply replace the ****, you must replace the whole switch as a module. Now, I'm no longer under warranty. Can't believe this piece of crap is only good for about 18 months. Anyone else experiencing this failure ? Is there a cheaper fix than replacing the whole switch module (i.e., can you buy just the ****) ?

Did just the **** itself break, or the piece it attaches to?
