Override Keyless entry
Override Keyless entry
Anyone know how to override the keyless so that it will work while the car is on and running? I had a 96 Town car that would do it, but my navi won't. Just wondering if anyone had tried it successfully
I got locked out of my recently purchased 2001 F150 yesterday because I left it running(it was cold out) took the key fob with me and locked it. Came out minutes later and couldn't get in. I was very disappointed but luckily my brother came with my extra key. I hope someone responds to this that knows how to defeat it. My Jeep doesn't have this issue.
AFAIK, the remotes being locked-out with the engine running cannot be defeated. It's all a part of the GEM and RAP modules, and I've yet to figure out an easy way.
That being said, look at installing the keyless entry key-pad on the door handle. It's an easy mod, and relatively inexpensive, and the key-pad is active even with the engine running. Plus, no key or fob is necessary should you need to get in at any time.

Yet again, unfortunately, there isn't keypad install for the 98. 99 and up only. The only thing you can get for a 98 is basically of stick on that transmits the signal like the keypad, like svh said
I have a 2003 F-150 and I took off the key fob from the key ring. I can keep the truck running while i run in the gas station to get a drink. I can lock my truck and when i get back to it i can unlock it while its running. I have no issues. I have a Lariat so it has the keyless entry on the door as well and that works also when i have it running and locked. I dont know?

This was what I found in the service manual:
Soooo....... Try pulling fuse #8 (5A) from the Junction Box. That's the switched input to the RAP module, and that may be what disables the key fob with the key on..... it will also kill the interior lights and the radio, but for testing purposes, it's easier than cutting the wire. I'm thinking that you might be able to fool the RAP moduel into not knowing the key is on, and it might still un-lock the doors.
So, pull the fuse. Stick the key in the ignition, start it up, and see if the remotes work. If so, then you'll want to clip the BK/PK wire where it runs into the RAP module under the driver's side of the dash. If that doesn't work, we'll have to try something else.

Keyless Entry
The keyless entry system consists of:
remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module.
driver seat module (DSM).
generic electronic module (GEM).
keyless entry keypad.
keyless entry remote transmitter.
The remote entry features will not function when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position

The '04 and '05 use a Body Security Module.... they're a completely different beast. I assume he's talking about a 98 Navigator (based on his username). If not, that info might be helpful too.
Oh, and if your 'wireless' keypad on the door came from the factory, it's not wireless.

Well the stick on keypad definetly didn't work but I found a good deal on it and I have a few uses for it so i will install it anyway. Just made a spare key at the hardware store to keep in my wallet if I ever lose my key or lock them in it with it running again.
