Ok guys I'm new here, I just got in my truck to drive to class and found my power locks and mirrors are not working. I have a 97 F150 XLT, I also have an aftermarket remote for the power locks.

The problem:

Both power lock switches do not work, however the aftermarket remote allows me to lock the doors but not unlock them. Mirror control only works to move the mirrors right, for both the passenger and driver sides.

Any help about how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.

ok I did some testing and I belive that the relays are in need of replacing, I hav hear them struggling to unlock, lock the truck. I was reading a post by someone who replaced the relays on a 2000. did Ford change anything with the electrical system between 1997 and 2000.

 

Biglaw22 - i have a similiar problem with pass side. The switch works on this side but it does not lock or unlock the pass side. The switch will unlock and lock the driver. any insight would be greatly appreciated.

 

Well I think I figured my problem out. It looked like it was a short with the aftermarket remote start/locks that the dealership instaled, befor I bought it.

Sernabe- I would take a look at the pasanger door actuator if it is only the one side not working
