No Speedometer, odometer and hard shifting
I currently own a 94 f-150, 5.0L, auto trans with 4x4. Day before yesterday when I got in the truck I noticed that the odometer did not display. When I started driving, the speedometer did not work and it shifts very hard. It also idles a little faster than normal (detected by ear as it does not have a tach.
I reset the computer hoping that might have something to do with it and reseated most of the connectors that I could get to with no luck. I assume that I have lost a sensor or one of the control modules, duh. My Haynes manual is worthless in this case. Are there test procedures for the sensors, etc. I really don't want to just throw parts at it until I get the problem resolved. I am going out and get a code reader. Any input will be greatly apprediated.
09/18...Picked up a code reader at Autozone and it indicates the Vehicle Speed Sensor has a low output during the Key Off test. Does anyone know where the VSS is located?

It is the VSS sensor on the top center of your rear end. Check to see if the wires have came loose, if not take the sensor out and if it has metal filings on it wipe it off and put it back in. If it is damaged replace it.
