remote keyless entry module loacation
Hi, I have already tried the test to see if my wifes truck has the keyless entry module in it. Unfortunatly it didnt work. What I would like to know is, if i go to a junk yard, where in the truck is the R.K.E. module located. I have heard driver side kick panel. Passenger side kick panel. Driver side behind the seat. Plase help. Thanks
Well, I can look it up for many years, but I would have to know what kind of truck it is. I assume Ford
but I would need the year, model, number of doors.
If you post that I will see what Michells has to say about location.

Remote anti-theft personality module
Located behind left side of dash
To remove;
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left front door scuff plate. Remove left side trim plate. Disconnect RAP module 22-pin connector first, then 26 pin connector. 22-pin is on left side of RAP Module, when looking directly toward module connectors. Remove attaching nuts and module.
To install reverse removal procedure, connecting 26 pin first.
The basic test, which I believe you have already done, is;
Cycle ignition key 8 times within 10 seconds and end in run position to enter program mode. Doors should lock and unlock to confirm.
In another place it says the RAP module is located in right rear of vehicle. I believe this is incorrect.
I have no reason to think you couldn't use this for keyless entry, locking, or you could strip a simple Taurus/Sable of this or earlier years and just wire that in. I've put a keyless from a Sable into an F-150, keyless and keypad.
The Taurus ones are very easy to find, and a lot cheaper. You just need to wire it in, and get the right year remotes.

I have a 1998 F150 XLT 4.6 off road. Is the RAP module in the same location? I looked behind scuff panel and there are 3 that look like modules there but I could not see one with that many connections top one has 16 connections to back of vehicle middle one has 8 connections to rear and bottom one has 16 holes but only 8 wires again to rear of vehicle Can't get my head in to look at the front of these Am I in the right place or is the RAP module located somewhere else on this year

98 F150 XLT Keyless Entry
Hi - I recently purchased a 98 Ford F150 XLT. It does not have a keyless entry and the module is not present. Sorry for responding to this old post, but what I'm trying to find out is if I purchase a used factory module, does the XLT have the wiring harnesses already in place and all I have to do is plug it in? If that is not the case, I may opt for a third party keyless entry system.
Thanks.
Thanks.
