Tilt wheel kills brake lights

(2001 F150 Ext Lariat) Man was this hard to find. If I tilt the steering wheel all the way down the back brake lights don't work. Top center (bed light) does work and all other lights work fine. If I tilt the wheel up one notch the brake lights start working again. Are there any tutorials or 'helps' that show how to get inside the steering column? I'm wondering what's getting stressed or pinched or grounded... Any help greatly appreciated. Direct e-mail to str8aro@nc.rr.com also appreciated. Thanks.

I seen a post in some catagory talkin about the anti theft system. This is the name of it: i know i will get sh*t for this but oh well Talked about tilting the steering wheel down and holding in on the brake to start the truck after the anti theft was ingauged. They called it PATS..Passive anti theft system. That might have something to do with it...Just a thought.
