I have a '99 SC LTD with the handy remote door lock/unlock. Does this mean that I should have an alarm system? I've tried and tried but I cannot get the alarm to go off.

I've checked the service manual and it implies that remote door lock means I should also have an alarm (I must admit, I have not checked the Owner's Manual).

Could it simply be deactivated?
