Stock CD Player

I was just surfing the internet trying to figure out how to take out the stock CD player in my 2000 Ford150. I pulled off the trim and removed the A/C - Heater unit <---(so i could look under the cd player to see whats holding it in) But there was nothing there. I am starting to think that im blind or something If anybody could help me out with this that would get rid of my headache
Thanks, Ben

There are two little holes on each side of the unit. Take a coat hanger and cut in such that you have two pieces each a foot long. Bend each one so that you have one peice that fits into one side and another fits into the other side. Each side of the unit has a clip. You are using the coat hangers to depress the clip. Once free, you can use the coat hanger to extract the unit.

Regards,

Chris

A coat hanger often damages the locks. You're better off to go to Wal-Mart's car stereo section and pick up a set of DIN removal tools for $3.

You slide the two U shaped tools into the slots on each side of the stereo. Putting outward pressure on both tools, pull out the stereo.

Note that some Ford plants also wrap 2-inch packing tape around the stereo and mount. Makes it a bear to get the stereo out.

Wal Mart, Auto Zone, CarQuest, or any other parts store should have the tools. Once you've got the surround off, do just like he said.... you'll push them in and they'll be kind of tight, but you'll feel them click as the little ***** on the end engage the latch (coat hangers don't give you the feel). Pull apart with your thumbs and it'll slide right out of the chassis.
