OD won't switch in D...but works in N! HELP!!
I posted this in transmissions..with no response. Hopefully someone can help in this forum..?
Here is one for the trans or perhaps wiring gurus!!
My 4R70W has 40K on it. Recently (not sure if related) I installed a remote starter. When driving the next day, I noticed that I could not turn off the OD on the shifter...
Playing around at a stop light, I noticed that if I shifted into neutral, it would operate normally (light came on/off)
Upon driving again, if I changed it to off in Neutral, the transmission would operate as it should 1 thru 3, not go into OD...just as it should, but the light was not on.
Long story short, upon shifting into neutral, I can operate the OD switch and the trans will do as instructed. However, once the shifter is in drive, the light goes out (regardless of OD on/off) and I cannot change the OD position on-off...
What gives?
Any ideas would be appreciated!! It's not keeping me from driving, but it is driving me nuts! I can't think of anything tranny related that I would have touched in the remote start install, but that is when this problem started.

Thanks sub, will do as soon as the SC 1715 arrives...any other way of getting this short of heading to the dealer or using the tuner?
Seems like it is dependent on shifter position...in neutral, light functions, can turn off and on as you wish. If I turn it off, light comes on as it should (no blinking), but drop the shifter into drive and light goes out (tranny is still in O/D off mode though) but I cannot turn the OD back on unless I shift to neutral again....aaaaarrrrgh.

I drive a 2000 F-350 V10 at work and the O.D. is always on and can't be turned off via the button on the gear shift. Our company garage tells me its a major task as the gearshift all the way to the bottom of the steering column needs replacement. Something to do with the switches at the bottom. So far I live with it but at vacation time it goes in for the work. Glad I don't have to pay for it too!
