Sorry in advance if this is an old question. I have a 2001 Supercrew 4x4 with auto lamp. I have fog lights on the switch but not with the auto lamp function. My wife’s 2003 Expedition has fog light that work with the auto lamp. My question is, can I install an OEM switch that uses the fog lights with the auto lamp for my truck.

 

No OEM switch. There is a mod to the factory switch involving some filing of plastic that will allow you to pull the fog light switch out in the auto lamp mode. Do a search and you will find it. I did this several years ago and haven't touched my switch in quite awhile since I'm just relying on the autolamp to kick in whenever I need it. Now if only there were a way to input the wipers on into the switch so they come on automatically when the wipers are on.

Indeed.... the infamous Fog Light Mod.

Modify the ramp inside the switch, cut and jumper one wire, and reconnect the switch. On a scale of 1-10, this is a 2.5.

FWIW, I've offered my services free of charge to anyone unsure of modifying their own switch. You cover the cost of shipping me your switch here and back, or the cost of a new one with shipping to you and I'll happily modify it for free. Then all you need to do is remove the old one, cut and splice one wire, and plug in the new one.
