i am gonna buy a new fob for a 1994 ford f150, and need to know how to program it first, and does any one know how i know which one to buy or where i can find out.

 

Read your owners manual

As long as you have at least the same buttons or more the fob will work

 

Been there - Done that. There are basicly 2 procedures to do this. The owners manual is useless. Do a search for "fob", and "programming" here. The 2 methodes are using the ignition switch (later method) and shorting a plug under the dash (earlier method). Mine was the earlier method (97) and I would assume yours will be as well. The only problem is identifying the plug. Just find the thread.
A PS:
Use the model number on your current FOB and do an Internet search. You will find exactly what you are looking for.

 

toysis, do you remember where your little plug was located? ive been searching for the one thats on my 1996 F150, but there aren't any empty plugs hanging under there.
