Anyone else "bit" by auto door locks?

I have had my SCrew for almost 4 years now. Probably twice a year, I get bit by the power door lock tab sucking my arm skin down with it when I start to drive off. It ends up leaving a nice purple mark on my arm.

Is this pretty common amongst the community or am I on the rare side?

I disabled the idiotic autolock feature. If I want my doors locked, I'll lock them. I found it disconcerting the way the doors would lock anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes after I started driving. And it was quite annoying when my passenger door was ALWAYS locked when I wanted it unlocked.

You must be on the rare side. I'd think anyone bothered by the autolock for 4 years would just turn it off.

Your not alone, its happen to me before, but on rare occasions and dosent leave that big a mark. My girlfriend will sometimes hit the lock button on her side to cause it to do it to me, sometimes on accident but sometimes on purpose.

I agree with RockyJSquirrel, however i havnt disabled the lock feature, dosnt bother me that much, well at least yet.

never happened to me.

Diabling would be easier than readjusting where you put your arm.

This may be a dumb question but what the heck...How do you disconnect it?

Oh and i know how you feel about it bitting your arm.

I don't like to talk about it much. That's how I lost my left arm.
Made me so mad I vowed never to drive the truck again.
Little did I know the passenger side worked the same way and damn if I didn't lose my Right arm.

I have adjusted to typing/posting with my feet as well as using them to drive. The only thing I miss is the ability to flip bad drivers the Finger.

You say I could have just disabled it?

Sounds like you need to disable both the autolock feature on the truck, and your girlfriend! :P

Just kidding.... I would not recommend disabling the autolock feature if you like it. :P :P

Seriously though..... I also disabled the auto lock feature before I ever left the dealership lot. When my salesman saw me sitting there 10 minutes after we said goodbye, he came out to see what I was doing..... manual-in-hand I managed to do it. (sigh) my first mod....

Yes, you can disable the feature. Apparently Bill Gates has some pull at Ford too. (Only Micorsoft would have you shut down your computer by first hitting START.) If you haven't read the disable procedure in your manual yet, bring a beer - or two. It involves buckling and un-buckling your seatbelt whilst turning the ignition one and off as you turn you underwear inside out without removing your jeans. My Chiropractor says he gets tons of business out of it. Oh yea, and it was one of the first things I disabled too.

That is why I don't wear underwear anymore.

I think it's kinda funny when it happens to the unaware passenger, but I've been careful to move my arm when I let off the brake.

Damit, I was bitten tonight after work! Son of a Beach! Funny this posts is still going.

Maybe this is telling us we need to work out a little more and firm up those arms, so theres no flabby skin there to bite. Just a thought
