1998: dome light works, but not map lights ??
Hi everyone,
I have a 1998 F150. I have seen all the sticky door switch threads, but that is not my problem. My dome light works fine via the switch or doors.
My problem is neither map light works. Both bulbs test fine in the dome socket. I'm aware the lights ground throught the bolts that hold the whole light up, but they seem fine when I took the unit apart.
Any suggestions??

The Dome lamp works from the dimmer switch or the door switch, but the map lights will not work from the map light switch, correct ?
This is from the 2002 EVTM, so it could be VERY different, I don't have access to the 1998 EVTM at the moment.
When you take a look at the countesy lamps:
Battery Saver relay Lamps :
1. glove box
2. Engine Compartment
3. interior map lamps front
4. Vanity mirror lamps ( if installed )
5. Rail lamps ( think that is the SCab lamps for the rear seat ?? ).
6. Overhead console itself ( the temp compas if installed ).
7. Interior lamps.
Interior lamp relay lamps :
1. Door Entry lamp
2. Other half of the map lamps
3. Cargo lamps
4. other half of the rail lamps
5. Other half of the interior lamps
6. otehr half of the overhead console itself.
When you look at the map lamps, there should be 2 power connctions to it, and a single ground connection ( at least in the 2002 EVTM it is this way ).
If you check the glove box lamp and the engien compartment lamps, do they also work ?
Do you have the overhead console with the temp and compas installed ? If so, does that work ?
Just trying to do a bit of digging with the info I have at hand, on why the map lamps are the only ones not working.
