Dash Lights

I recently bought a 97 F150 4x4. So I have now joined this board! From some reading on here in the last couple of days this seems to be a very good resource.

My questiion is the right side of the dash does not light up when the head lights are on. (85 mph and up, oil pressure, and voltage i think). Anyway is this any kind of an easy DIY fix for a mechanic novice? It doesn't bother me so much I would want to pay someone to fix it but if I could pull this off I would do it myself. Thanks for any help!

Mark

edit: I should proof read BEFORE I submit!

It could be a fuse, or it could be burned out lightbulbs. Are the environmental controls out as well? Changing bulbs isn't too bad, but it requires you take out a lot of screws. The worst part is unseating the bulbs from the instrument cluster! Just watch out for that hidden screw behind the light switch, you'll have to stick a screwdriver behind the dash to move a slider on the headlight switch assembly, pop it out, and then you can get access to the "hidden screw"

To find out if the evrionmental controls are out, would you do that at start up? Should every light on the dash light up at start up?

Thanks

Thank you very much for the advice, I got thru it and all the dash lights are now working!
