Driver's Side window
Driver's Side window
My driver's side window is acting erratic. I am not sure if it is the window motor or switch. Sometimes when I push the switch to roll the window up or down, it goes real slow or just stops on its own. There is no cracking noise. The reason I am not sure if is the motor or switch is because sometimes when I push the switch, the window will not do anything and then 2 or 3 seconds later, it will go up or down on its own. I am not sure what the delay would be related to. Is there a control module going bad under the dash?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From youre description I would say it is youre motor and if you are handy I would say it is repairable. the biggest problem with these motors are that they get moisture inside and then the brushes get stuck, if you remove the motor and dissasemble it you can usualy clean the brushae and brush holder check the little springs clean the armature lube the bushings and re install. This might be the way to go for you being in Germany and I might think parts may be an issue. The hardest part of the repair is reassembly as the very strong magnet wnts to pull the armeture out of youre fingers, but with a little effort it is very doable, before dissasembly take a file or hacksaw blade and mahe some marks on all the pieces so that you can orientate the pieces properly the first time.
Chucks bp,
Thanks for the reply. Being in Germany is one of the reasons I use this forum. It has saved me some money. Getting parts isn't a problem, its just the wait and having patience.
I am mechanically inclined, so I'll definitely have to look in to what you have mentioned.
