Gauge Cluster Question?

I have a '97 f150 and want to replace my cluster with one from a '99 f150.

The new cluster has digital tach, while the old has anolog. Other than that, the clusters are pretty similar.

Will it work, and if so, is it a direct plug for plug exchange or will I need a special harness to adapt the two?

Thanks for any info!

Different connectors. No pats system on old cluster. You will need a wiring diagram for both and make the connections by hand and then I am not sure it will work.

no on a guage cluster without digital will not work with a digital cluster.. if you want this for the tach you can get a 97-98 cluster that has a tach.. it should be a direct replacement.. but to have a digital one i think u'd have to rewire quite a bit and probably messes with the computer too

It will not work. The '99 and up clusters communicate with the PCM for the PATS. The 97-98 do not. You would need to change the dash harness, the cluster, the PCM, and much more.

The reason I ask is that a few of my gauges lights are burned out so I was thinking about putting a indiglow overlay on until I came across these babies!

However they are for '99 and up. Check them out.

How do you remove the old one, I am not doing this, but I do have a serious problem with dust and other gunk behind that clear plastic...

I have tried pulling the piece behind the steering wheel, but I don't want to pull to hard...
