air bag code 52

Does anyone know what the code 52 for the airbag means?? This started the same time as the power windows failing. Anyway they can be related?
Any help would be appreciated.

Code 52 is the backup power supply circuit failure.
This is a storage device that will supply enough power to the bag controller in the event an accident has disabled the battery or it's cabling circuit.
Unless it is a common ground, the two are not related.

Here is something to check out. Many F150's seem to have a windshield leak from the drivers side that travels down the frame and into the Driver's side, interior fuse block, and above it the GEM module.

My son had his F150 at an airport for a week, came back with a dead battery. Jumped it, and all sorts of 'mysterious' electrical problems including:
Overdrive light flashing, rough running, 4 wheel drive engaging in and out, driver's window (power) quit working, ERROR CODE 52 on Air Bag, heater fan would not shut off even with key off and removed, turn signals working even with key off and removed.

He made it home, and we discovered there was a small leak on left side. We ended up removing the fuse block/GEM module ourselves.
Here is how we did it:
Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery!
Searched internet for some info, but basically removed all lower panels, for fuse block we removed 2 exposed front bolts, 2 exposed front nuts, unbolted (10 mm) bolts for top 2 wiring harnesses, found lock clips on connectors, squeezed and removed the harnesses, 3 side groups of harness wires, again they have lock clips. Removed the fuse block and GEM module.
There was some water in the bottom of the fuse area, which we cleaned. The GEM module looked dry and fine.
We also drilled two small holes at the bottom of the fuse block area to allow water to run out, used canned compressed air to force out some water. Sprayed through the holes with electronics cleaner, and then WD40 to dry it out. Cleaned all contacts with electronics cleaner.
Reassembled in reverse order, car started fine, fan worked properly, turn signals, window, everything... except code 52 still blinks. Rumor has it if you cycle through the 52 code, shut off ignition, turn in back on.... for 256 times that it will reset, but we may go to Ford garage and pay the $35 (from internet) to reset the code.
When the battery goes completely dead, the Capacitor inside the Air Bag module voltage drops too low, engaging the 52 code.

Next comes fixing the window before it happens again.

This is where I would check first with multiple electrical problems occuring.

Good Luck!

Dave
