Brake Lights Don't Work
Brake Lights Don't Work
99 f150 5.4 2wd
134k miles...All 3 of my brake lights don't work. I've checked the fuses and bulbs. I purchased a brake light switch, but not sure if I have the correct piece. I looked up under the dash along the brake pedal arm and noticed an electrical connection there, but it doesn't look anything like the part I bought. I have perfomed a search on the issue here, but nothing states exactly where the part goes.

There is a pic of the part I bought in my album. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

All of my other lights work fine. The emergency flashers work, blinkers work, flashers work when the lights are on. Cruise control works fine...fuse #13 is not burnt, and I replaced it just in case
I am having the same problem. I have notice that on the brake petal there are two switches. If I rotate the top switch the lights start working. I am hoping the switch is bad. When I get the switch out I will tell you if it looks the same. Let me know if you come up with a solution.
Did you check the fuses under the hood? But since it is both the high mount and the truck brake lights they are 2 seperate circuits and they share the brake light switch. There might be 2 switches on your brake pedal. One is the brake light the other might be cruise control. I hope this helps.
I'm pretty sure you got the wrong replacement brake switch. There should be a black plastic switch on the pedal pin shared with the brake pushrod. It will have a connector with 5 pins that is pointed down toward the floor. You should see a yellow cotter pin holding the switch and pushrod on the pedal pin. That's the brake switch. There should be a part number molded in something like XXXX-13480-XX. Take that number to the dealer.
You received an old 2-pin brake switch design that requires a different connector. I think they used those switches in older Fords. Hope this helps.
