Cruise Control

I am unable to activate the cruise control and there are no other electrical problems that I am aware of. The set-accel/coast switch is sticky, and I have tried on a few occassions to find a way to check and/or replace that switch. As far as I know, there are no vacuum issues.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks.

There is a recall on the 2000 model year for a faulty cruise control switch which can cause an engine fire. They are supposedly looking at other model years for the same problem. You might want to take it to your local dealership and have it checked out just to be safe.

After you get the dealer to check out the recall for cruise control switches causing shorts and subsequent fires, you might search for a post on "brake lights not working." An Army hero from Iraq recently returned and had the cruise problem plus brake lights not working. I believe it was the switch on the front of the brake fluid reservoir.

Best of luck.
