Question crazy indications

This came on suddenly. Went to start the truck and the motor spun but wouldn't start. Went to open the hood with the keys in my hand and noticed the low oil pressure and check engine lights ON and the fuel and voltmeter gauges still indicating. Removed and reinstallled the negatice cable from the battery and the truck started. (reset relays?) Drove the truck, went to turn the truck off same indications...this time it restarted. Got it home and the same exercise happened again. Next day the truck was back to normal. But, the demonds have returned. After four days without incidence this morning the starter solenoid clicked and then quit. Same crazy indications for a heartbeat and the battery lost all charge. Any thoughts?

I would remove both battery terminals and carefully clean the terminals and the inside of the clamps. Reinstall and have the battery tested, may just be dirty terminals can be a week battery.

The idea of water has merit. It's raining again and the truck is refusing to cooperate. I had my son hose the truck down a couple days ago with me upside down under the dash but no leaks were seen. Could you give me a direction to find the GEM?

Ah...aren't we all looking for that perfect GEM!!!

Seriously though, the GEM is located directly behind the fuse box (some may even call it part of the fuse box) but that's and argument for a different day.

Nose around the fuse box area (inside the fuse box look for any corroded/oxidized contacts) and also look behind the fuse box for the two big massive wire harnesses that plug into a module (GEM)
Check to see if things look OK there.

Chances are, you may have a leak in the windshield seal that is causing water to get in and drip on/into the GEM.

I've heard about it DOZEN's of times here on the forum.

The bad news.......

it's a dealer ONLY serviceable part and if memory serves me, the whole job should set you back anywhere from 3 to 5 C notes...
