Right Rear Tail Light

1996 Ford F-150 XL 5.0

Right rear tail light will not illuminate when the head lights are on.
However, it lights up when the brakes are applied and when the blinker is on.

In addition, the license plate light is out as well. I have checked all of the bulbs and they are good. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I just posted a similar problem and my dash lights don't go on either. I'm waiting for a reply from my thread. Will keep you posted.

Check your tail light bulbs. If they have 2 elements, 1 is for taillights, the other is for brakes/blinker due to interruptor in the turn signal gizmo. You may have a bad bulb; switch with the left and see if the problem switches to the left.

License light - check for a good ground on the bumper. Sand the contact surfaces and see if that doesn't fix the problem. (You sure the bulb is good?)

Good luck.

How did you go about checking the bulbs? Did you look at them or test them with a 12V source? Check the sockets for both power and ground. If the sockets have power and ground with the circuit energized, buy new bulbs anyway.
