Remote Keyless Entry - (FMT) do I have it?
My 1999 F150 is my first Ford - ever. I've had it a week and love it. I'll shortly be replacing the current factory cassette unit with a factory CD. I know there are better after-market head units, but I'm deaf in one ear and factory units take a little longer to get stolen.
I also want remote keyless entry. Chrysler and GM install the hardware in the car whether you buy the option or not, so I assumed Ford does also. I bought 2 key fobs on eBay. I did the 8 rapids described in the programming instructions, but got no door lock/unlock response. FMT answered Saturnhacker in another thread about a device to go look for. I'm sure that if I do look, I wont find it.
My question is, is this a 'box' that I can go find, buy, and plug in for myself, or am I doomed to using the key to get in.

most XLT's have keyless entry.
Turn the key on and off 8 times ending with it on (within 10 seconds)
TRy it a few time because it took me about 10 times to do mine

Thanks, Lees, but I just about wore out my ignition switch, then my wife went out and performed a few iterations herself. Other threads indicated to check for the Security module, the white/beige box located about an inch forward of the fuse block - not there. No receiver, no keyless entry.
Good news is that a quick search online for used parts yielded several hits including one mentioned by name as the keyless entry security module. I'm going to try it. If it works, I'll do a "how to" article on it. I'm a nut for keeping options factory.
