question??

Someone who may know please help!!!! After having our '99 F150 in the shop for two and half weeks it came out with the air bag light blinking. It was blinking twice then stopping, then blinking seven times. I came to pick it up as they were closing and by the time I realized it they were closed. I called the next morning and they suggested that I disconnect the battery for a minute or so and it should reset. 2 days later they finally let us have an appt to check it and said that it was a bad sensor and they did not touch the dash so it could not have been anything they did. (They replaced the head gasket and also the timing belt?) We had it in the month prior for the door locks/windows not working correctly. (still under warranty). The warranty expired on the 1st and now they want $200.00 to work on the sensor. Do you think anything they could have done would have affected the sensor? It was still under warranty when we took it in. They kept it for 2 and half weeks because at first they did not have the parts then it took a while to fix it, then they found a problem with the timing belt, then the mechanic got the flu. It never flashed before? I guess this is a code? Does anyone know where the sensors are located? Thanks!!!

No, but if you find out what trouble codes are being thrown, someone here can probably help you. Some big chain stores like Auto Zone read the codes for free I think. Post more info about your truck: Std. cab, Ext. cab, Supercab, motor, trans, 2 or 4 wheel drive. May not be necessary, but it might help just the same.

Airbag system codes are not readable by the basic OBD-II scan tools used by most parts stores.

Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 27 indicates that the Restraints Control Module (RCM) has determined that there is a fault in the Passenger Airbag Deactivation (PAD) warning lamp circuit.

Most probable cause is a burned out lamp followed by a faulty RCM. The lamp is not listed as being serviceable by itself meaning the module would be replaced as a unit if the bulb is faulty. Perhaps someone has investigated this closer and can comment if the bulb can be replaced separately.

In any event, before working on any component of the airbag system, disconnect the battery and wait at least one minute before doing anything else. Airbags can be dangerous to the untrained person and are best left to the pro.

if you run with the passenger side airbag in the off position most of the time then the bulb in the switch on the dash where you put the key in to turn it off is burnt out. all you have to do to fix it is pop the plastic trim around the radio off then unplug the switch take out a 7mm bolt i beleave and remove switch then put new switch in when you turn key back on the airbag light should prove out come on for a few seconds then go off.

i dont see anyway they could have cuased this without doing something real sneaky, but these lights in the switch do burn out from time to time from the light being on all the time with the pass. air bag off.
