Avantguard Alarm Install Nightmare
I purchased a 2005 Lariat 5.4 4x2 about 2 weeks ago. My first concern was getting it protected so I got Line-X, tints and a Clifford AvantGuard 5 installed. It was a legnthy installation in which we discovered that when we actively arm the alarm, since the truck as an extrodinarily long domelight delay...the alarm would read the doors as open. Sometimes the alarm would go off other times it would just give me the 4 door open chirps. We bypassed the dome light, now I can actively arm but I don't get the "hey you left the door open" chirps. Anyone had this problem with an alarm install? We tried the Cliffnet feature of "factory dome delay" but that diddn't work. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
I don't have my truck yet to have installed an alarm (soon I hope). But I would think that instead of using the dome light, you could have used some diodes on the door triggers and not hook up the dome light supervision all together.
When I installed alarms in the best I never use the dome light wires. Just use the door triggers. 90% of the time the dome light comes on when I disarm the alarm any way, because unlocking the doors makes the vehicle think that the factory keyless was used.
www.the12volt.com is where I get most of my alarm/wiring answers. They are great over there. But if you post over there you should carry the info to this forum so other people can see it over here.

I'm with Crudeau on this one. I'd connect that trigger to the door switch wires - and use doors too. I would suspect there's a different wire for each side. You will also have to isolate them with a diode PER wire. This'll keep the GEM(I think that's what it's called) from triggering your alarm as it goes into sleep mode in about a 1/2 hour.
