Just wondering if any of you Ford fans can give me some insight into this little problem . Right after I got my truck I noticed that if I shut the truck off with the moonroof open it would close automatically . Now it seems to have stopped doing this . It will close itself if the back of the glass is popped up but not if it is in the fully retracted position . Any ideas ?

 

I'm not sure what brand of sunroof was installed in yours but mine is from ASC. Mine is also electric and has a "vent" and "open" position. Since there are 2 positions on mine I can only assume that there is a circuit/sensor that detects each position to let the computer know that it's open (vice it just being not shut) in that position so it knows which circuit to energize to shut. It sounds like the circuit for automatically shutting the moonroof when it's in its "open" position is failed.

The only other thing I can think of is that if mine meets a preset amount of resistance when shutting it will re-open (unless I hold the close button until it shuts), but the "vent" works fine. It is possible that your roof is just out of alignment.

Without taking to someone who knows how your moonroof works I would first try a clean, lube and alignment (mine is recommeded every 6 months). Every time mine re-opens after trying to automatically shut I re-align it and it works like a champ. Maybe that might help your problem.

Thanks for the help . Not sure how to go about aligning it but maybe I'll study it a little and see if I can figure something out . Not too big of a deal at this point because it does open and close normally . It just isn't closing automatically from the full open position when I turn the ignition off . From the vent position it works well .
