Wipers suddenly stopped!?
2003 F150 17,000 miles.
Yesterday, while driving in the rain with my wipers on, the wipers suddenly stopped. Never had any previous problems of any kind with wipers. No warning at all. Nothing has ever been done on wiper motors or wiring.
I checked the fuse and it is fine.
I played with the switch on the steering column, and got no response at all. I tried all the different positions and speeds. Nothing. ALL the other features of the lever on the steering column worK: the turn signals and the water spray on the windshield both work fine.
I turned on the wipers and listened; no motor sound.
I raised the hood and briefly tried to inspect the motor(s) that move the wiper arm, but it appears that the motors(s) are not easy accessible. They are located under a cover that would have to be removed....
What should I do next?
THANKS!!

You have several areas to check out.
1. There is a wiper run / park relay.
2. There is a wiper hi/lo relay. Power goes through both relays.
3. the Control function is through a module called the Generic electronic (GEM).
Your problem could be in any one of these areas.
What you might do is see if your washer works as a check for the GEM module being completely dead.
Sorry it is not so simple but hope it is..
Good luck.

How do I check these relays? Where are they found?
Thanks. !
note: When the button on the end of the turn signal is pushed in, the wash water is sprayed on the windshield, as normal.

If you have an owners manuel, page 208 shows fuse 11 a 30 amp.
Page 212 shows relays #202 and 209.
These are all plugin.
Without service info, the best you can do is have someone operate the wiper functions and feel if the relay has operated and some checks with a volt meter to find out where the voltage begins to be missed.
Fuse 11 should be under the dash on that panel.
The relays are in a box under the hood near the vacuum brake assembly.
The gem module only be by subbing for operation of all it's functions.

have your dealer tow it in. No wipers equals safety issue and not highway safe.
A 2003 with 17,000 should still be under warranty and wiper motors are not a wear item while under warranty.
You checked the fuse. You have done everything required of you before the dealer fixes this on Ford's dime.
got them working
i got my wipers working again!!!!!!
i would like to thank all of my fellow 150/Expedition onliners for all their advise and tips on repairing the Multiswitch.
i recommend this to everyone with wiper issues the job took 10 minutes and you didnt even have to remove the switch from the streering col.
i just saved me $80.00 for the switch and all i paid was 2.19 for the dielectric grease.
it looks like the dealers stuff the switch with grease and causes the swicth to malfunction on purpose to drive us CRAZY .
