fuel gauge intermittant
fuel gauge intermittant
94 f150 xlt dual tanks. Fuel gauge gives incorrect
readings on either tank. Right after fill up (yes, engine
is OFF at filling station), the gauge will report Full. Subsequent readings later in the day or the next day will be sitting on empty or thereabouts. Does not appear to be any consistency
to this behavior. The only way I know for sure how much fuel remains is by milage. It's good to have that second tank as failover. I realize that's not a whole lot to go on, and I've read responses to similar questions range from brand of gasoline to sending units in the tanks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might proceed? Many thanks in advance.

I would check for a bad ground. Both the sending units share a common ground and since both are giving false readings I would start here.
Being almost 11 years old it's good bet that there is rust or corrosion there.
