Good spot to tap into

I am hooking up some auxillary lights and need to tap a wire under the dash for power. Any got any good recommendations. SHouldnt be drawing much power since they are all LEDs. This is all happening on a 98 F-150.

Use a special "add a tap" assembly to get power from an existing fuse location and still have it's own fuse in the new lead.
Very easy to do.

With this add a tap or add a fuse can you supply power to more than one component? If so how do you go about doing this?

The wire to tap into depends if you want this to be hot all the time or only with the Ign in the run position.

The other consideration is even though they are LEDs, how many are you putting on ?

The easy hot all the time lead is the cigar lighter. On a 2001 it is a Light Blue with a white stipe, from the central junction box, fuse potion 3 ( 20 amp fuse ).

The other for the hot in run position is from the ignition switch connector. On the 2001 it is a 12 AWG wire that is a red with a black stripe ( what I used for the run indicator for the E-Fans ).

These are the color codes from the 2001 EVTM, so please take care in using them on a 98. They have been the same to date, but never can tell when there might be a difference between the runs ( 97/98 and 99 to 03 ).

Good luck.

If just LED lighting, they consume very low power.
One tap should be fine but it will only have one fuse for the extra lead tapped-on.
The original fuse location where the add-a-tap is installed still functions as it did before.
