Help with horn
My horn as of late had become hypersensitive you could literally blow on it to activate. Now it goes off on it's own and stays on until I manipulate the cover to stop.
Anybody with the same problem? Solution?
I pulled the 20amp fuse(#5) under the hood as a temporary solution but that kills the cruise as well.
I have never had the airbag out of this rig and don't know if I can access the switch that way. Anybody?
The cruise has no problem when the fuse is in place so can I rule out the "clockspring"?
Is this going to call for a new airbag/horn switch to fix?
Any help much appreciated.

I haven't taken my steering wheel apart but I would assume the horn relay would be on top of the airbag near the cover. Also, if you wanted to find out wait at least a couple of hours after disconnecting the battery. This ensures that the truck is dead and all of the capacitors have drained so that there is no chance of the airbags going off in case you trip one of the sensors.
And no, you can't rule out your clockspring. All it is is a bunch of wires that wrap around the steering column so that your wheel controls and relays will have continuity of power and signal when you turn your wheel. Each function has its own line so your horn line may be damaged, frayed or in some way jacked up but the others are fine.

The horn "button" is an integral part of the driver's side airbag module. It cannot be replaced separately.
I'd say the button itself is defective, not the clockspring since you described the button as "hair trigger".
It is not necessary to wait hours after disconnecting the battery to safe the SRS system. The service manual gives the exact amount of time to wait. If you don't have the service manual, DO NOT screw with the airbag system.
At this point, I'd probably wire in an auxillary horn switch and disconnect the line to the clockspring if my truck acted up like this. The airbag modules are quite expensive.
