Test coil on plug?

My 2001 Supercrew misses occassionally at highway speeds in overdrive under a slight load (incline).

Is there a way to test the coil on plug either on or off the engine? This would probably be too easy, but it would seem to be alot easier to solve the problem of "missing" if you could test the coils one-by-one.

Thanks

2001 Supercrew. 81,000 miles. 4.6L V-8. 4x4

I also have a F150 4x4 4.6 auto and am experiencing a #1 misfire detected code p0301 . I have been told it may be the coil and to physically inspect it because they did not know how to test it?? If you find out please let me know and I will do the same.

Someone gave me this thread to read. Sounds like it might work - worth a try. I am going to try it this weekend.

Swap COP from #1 with COP from #5 and if you get Misfire on #5 the it will confirm that it is that particular COP that is breaking up.

I think.....
