soory haven't gotten back to you I know you are in a bind, the engineer i usually deal with (one with common sense and mechanical ability not just book smarts) is unavailable right now but i am still trying to find out. You wouldn't have to cut any wires as was someones concern, the pats ring has a connector that can be un plugged. But I seriously think that without it the pcm won't allow the carto start, actually it most probably won't, just like if the pats was bad you would have a no start condition.

 

Thanks for the updates - looks like it is going to be expensive fix either way. I am doing some research into UK ford security - may be european ford focus type thing may have a similiar PATS config, but dealers are coming forth with any info..
