Unhappy Door chime (yet again)

I just bought a 2000 F150 XLT Supercab and noticed right away that the door chimes constantly if the driver's door is open. without the key in the ignition. As soon as the drivers door is open (either entering or exiting) the chime starts. Chime sounds like it is the one for the headlights left on reminder, but the lights are off. I read all the forums I could find on this problem with no final solutions found except for 1 guy that reinstalled his stock radio (still have stock radio in my truck). Any ideas? I tried the WD40 in the door switch (switch works fine, as soon as door shuts chimes stops). BTW: I had the same truck already for a worktruck it didn't have this problem.

On the ignition there is a wire that grounds out and makes the chime. I'm pretty sure thats where your problem lies because I had to deal with that too.

I have seen several of these problems. (With remote start season upon us...) The plastic piece that holds the wire to the ign switch is weak (I guess compared to the tension in the spring "contact"...?) and will not stay in proper positon to function properly. I have fixed this with superglue. So far so good (been two months)

If you remove the clamshell trim around the column, you will see a pink/black wire (If I recall correctly...) by itself that ends in a plastic terminal. This terminal should be tight to the ign switch housing, if not, there is your problem. if you hold it in place with your finger, and put the key in, you will see how it needs to be positioned properly, then break out the superglue.
