I did that on my screw. But is there a specific reason you want to go to the wires to your computer on the overhead console?

What i did was extended the wire to reach the fuse panel and tapped off the hot side of the fuse for the radio(that is switched 12v) with the hot wire going to the radar detector. And for the ground wire I put a ring lug on the end of the wire and drilled it into a piece of metal underneath the dash(if you do this make sure you scrape the paint away in order to make a good ground connection).

Hope this helps, its really easier to do it than to try and explain. Hope i didn't confuse you.

I have my V1 wired into the overhead console. Since it's been a while I can't remember the wire color. Best guess is red for +12v and black for gnd.
A multimeter is about U$10 at Radio Shack. Comes in handy at a time like this.

Don't know what year you are dealing with, but it's the white with light blue stripe powered off of fuse 23 in the central junction box for 2001.
