1999 "Door Ajar" problem

Been a member for a while, but I have been to invlolved in my Mustang project to post for quite some time.
Anyways, I have started experiencing this problem, and since I don't have an owner's manual, I was hoping someone could help me out.
When I close my driver's side door, the interior lights stay on from anywhere between 6 and 15 seconds, then they cut off. When I get in the truck, close the door, and crank it up, the "Door Ajar" light and interior lights stay on for approximately 10 seconds, then they both go out.
What in the world is going on with his thing?? I appreciate any help that y'all can provide!

Open the door and spray some WD40 on the latches and then close and open the door a few times. The internal switch that activates the lights and the 'door ajar' indicator can stick after a couple years.

Ooops. Meant to say this earlier. I already sprayed WD40 in the door hinge whole. Didn't do anything.

Why didn't you say that before?
Oh, you forgot eh?

OK, first fully open drivers door.
Then remove jack from under seat place under door and raise slightly.
Remove door hinge screws and push 99 out of the way.
Carefully roll 2005 into place (minus drivers door)
Replace hinge screws.
Slowly lower jack then heave it in general direction 99 rolled off to.

(This procedure is more complicated but, I had to make sur RockyJSquirrel didn't copy me this time)

Dont spray it on the hinge hole. spray it on the latch. the other end of the door from the hinge.

Use the search and enter DOOR AJAR and you will get a ***** load of posts on the problem.
