Dash bulbs> which ones?

I posted this in Appearance section and got over 70 views with no answers/suggestions:

My 2000 F150 owners manual states to "contact dealer" regarding bulb replacements on the dash. My dealer stated the replacement number is 37 with a "resistor". Autozone rep stated if I wanted to jazz-up the dash, to go with a number 194 bulb. They have red, green, etc. colors.

Has anyone done this and is it a problem changing bulb numbers?

Thanks

194 is the bulb i use in all most all ford dashes that i remember. ive never heard of 37 with a resistor. its easy to change the bulbs once you get the instrument cluster out. dont lay the cluster on its face for more then 15 minutes or your gauges might bounce when you put it back in.
