Foglight mod...

I just read the foglight mod in the tech section that will bring the foglights on when you have just the parking lights on. I'm not clear on whether or not you file the piece and do the jumper wire or if it is an either or situation. Meaning if I just jump the two correct wires do my foglights come on as soon as I turn on the parking lights?

By filing the switch ramp, you enable the switch to think that the **** is in the 'out' position and thus, your fogs are on.

Simply splicing the wires will not cause your fogs to be on with the parks at all times. The **** still has to be pulled out.

I spliced the yellow wire and the fog light relay wire, (not sure) with a fuse in between. Been running for 4 weeks with no trouble. Fogs are on with running, lows and highs.

Here is what stricks me as odd, I am trying the Brown to White w/Black stripe and I keep popping fuses, has this happened to anyone else, maybe you didn't notice because the brown wire is carrying the load. Second, the yellow wire is the ground for the fog relay (GROUND) the white w/black strip is a power (POSITIVE) wire. I checked with a friend that did the mod and his fuse was blown and never knew it Anyone else have this situation.

nofd843 - I always had problems with fuses blowing, bulbs blowing, etc. Lived with it for a long time. Then after a few years of having the mod, my headlights decided that they would come on in the parking light position. This did not correct itself until I took out the splice.

harveje - I am assuming that you have yours wired to where the foglights come on without pulling the switch into the "foglight" position. Is this correct?? I think this might be the route I need to take with mine.

.
You know, I never did like the idea of splicing wires for this mod. The ramp filing/grinding idea is more work, but nothing electrical is altered. Maybe I'm just too paranoid of my warranty being bounced.
