strange beeping
strange beeping
Ive recently changed my instrument cluster lamps in my 97 f150, after putting it back together i noticed there is a beeping after i started the truck. it beeps a few times for about a minute or two and then quits. It repeats the same thing after everytime i start it. I also noticed my check engine turned off. Its been one for a month or two. I did disconnect the bettery while working on the insrtument cluster could that have something to do with it? The beeping is coming from the passenger side under the glove box.
disconecting the battery clears the codes so thats wht the CEL went off. if the fault is there it will come back on after a few drive cycles.
I'm not sure what the beep is though.

when you turn the ignition to run check to see if all the warning lights light up for acouple seconds. like the brake abs engine battery and oil lights maybe you missed one or it didnt get in there right and has a bad connection.

If the airbag module senses that it cannot turn the AIRBAG light on during SRS proveout, it sounds an alarm to notify you of that fault.
As I recall, the pattern is five sets of five tone bursts.
Since you had recently worked on the instrument cluster, I'd suggest starting there.

Re: strange beeping
If that ain't it one more thing to check.
The next time you hear the beeping, look around you to see if there is a really fat person walking backwards.
