You can diable it thru the message center.
Check your owner's manual.

I'm getting tired off turning it off every time I back up...when you turn off the ignition than start your truck up reverse sensing system is active.. my truck came with this option and well I hate it, but I like my truck.

I only have a xlt my truck has just the compass temp and millage for a message center thiers only a button to turn it on or off under the heater controls.

I don't have an '04 so i don't know about the messaging center, but I have been looking at installing one on my '03. Most back-up sensor systems are "turned-on" via a signal from the reverse light circuit (like the remote on lead on power amps). Find the wire and snip it and you should be good to go.
