Question Alarm System

Hello,
I am looking to purchase a decent alarm system for my 1997 Ford F150 and was curious as to which systems out now are good buys for the truck. Ive heard horror stories about systems such as Code Alarm, and others but dont want to spend an arm and a leg on a system that wont guarentee my vehicles saftey. Just want something the may divert criminals attention from my truck. (plus keyless entry and all that)
Please share any helpful information.
Thanks!!

Don't shop for the cheapest install! Alarms are only as good as their installler makes them. You don't want just some noisemaker that cries wolf all the time, then you end up ignoring it anyway. Don't go to a big box store (Circuit City, Best Buy), unless you have to. These guys get paid by the job, usually, the more jobs they do, the more they get paid. Go to a reputable, local shop. Look at some of their work. If you don't feel comfortable with them, go to the next one.

Viper (or any DEI brand, ie Python, Rattler) , AutoPage, and Clifford, and even Crimestopper have all been around for a while, with good reason.
