GEM module

If i replace my gem box of my 2003 f150 reg cab... Will that effect the PATS? I dont want to replace my gem box and then my truck not start anymore. I know that if i change my guage cluster then for sure it wont start unless its reprogrammed by the dealer.. I just hope that changing out this gem module wont effect the PATS.. I have a Reg Cab XL SPORT and im converting to power doorlocks and windows (all with factory ford parts) so i need a new gem box that way all the prewired stuff will have power to it..

This is an EXCERPT straight from the 2003 FORD SERVICE MANUAL

CAUTION: Prior to removal of the GEM, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to a diagnostic tool. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed.
I do NOT believe this is just a plug and play swap...UNLESS you have the right tools and to me it sounds like a dealer only type thing.

Hope this steers you in the clear.

Oh and to answer your original question, I don't believe the GEM module has any interaction with the PATS system other than providing power to the instrument cluster. (At least from what I've thumbed through in the Service Manual.) The programing, from what I understand, is the specific configuration of warning signals/lamps that is vehicle specific.
