Question Gauges Maxing out during Startup

Any clues as to why when I start my truck the guages max out and then back down and then start working?

This happens when the PCM resets or you disconnect the battery.
Get a new battery and check your alternator/wires.

Fritz is right on. The pcm is reseting itself. The battery is on it's last leg proably, and during starting the voltage is dropping down to the point where the pcm resets. Be sure your battery post are clean and tight. And if that's not it, it's battery time.

Good luck!

Is it normal for a Pontiac Grand Am to do this also? I think it's a 98, I saw my friends do that, but I didn't know if it was normal for a Pont. to do that too.
